Running: It's actually more expensive than therapy

Sunday 11/4/18 was The Paint the Towne 5k in Daytona Beach, FL. This is the fourth event of the 2018-2019 Daytona Running Series and a local favorite year after year. I always look forward to the long sleeve shirts and paint themed medals. My goal for this race was just to see where I was at without going all out.
Mile 1 6:22 The fall weather was nice for the morning not too hot or cold and overcast blocking the sun. I knew it would be a pleasant morning for a run. I tried to start out conservatively at the gate, which was actually too conservative. Oh well each race is a lesson, and I'm still learning. Mile 2 6:26 I tried to just maintain my pace which wasn't fast or slow at this point and not go any faster making sure I would have enough left for the last mile. I felt really good during this mile also. One more thing to note Old Daytona is just delightful to run through. Mile 3 6:36 As easy and slow as my first two miles had been, I still felt sluggish and tired after mile two. That's just how I always am. I need to 1. work on my endurance and 2. go out faster but not too fast in the future. Mile .10 6:10 The final sprint over the little bridge is fun because it's a little downhill to the finish line. I felt pretty good after the race and overall things went well. Final Thoughts I gave these race a pretty good effort without going all out. I was also over a minute faster than last year and, my splits are also improving. It may be a slow journey, but I know I am getting there. I will be coming back to this race for the years to come. The Swag This race gets an A+ for swag again this year. The shirt was really lovely with a pretty picture and deep color. The awards were matching tumblers and gift cards. The overall and masters winners also got some pretty fancy looking travel bags with the Daytona Beachcombers logo on them. Results Time: 20:09 Pace: 6:27 Overall: 2nd out of 143 1st Place Overall Female
