Running: It's actually more expensive than therapy

My 2018 running had some ups and downs. It started out kind of rough because I was not training correctly, but it finished strong when I found a great plan and ended with a great race at the Hot Chocolate 5k, Tampa. I am really excited to look into 2019. Here are some 2018 highlights.
Average times: Looking back I did a lot of work to improve my 5k speed. It feels like a slow process, but I have improved my average times by over a minute from last year. I went from struggling to get under the 21:10 range to the low 20:00 range. Revelations of 2018: Well of course realizing that I cannot run fast each day was one and another is finding my love for longer distance racing while completing my first 2 half marathons and 1st 10 miler. 2019 goals: I am a planner, so I have most of this lined up. Right now I am doing some recovering work and taking it easy on the mileage. Late January I will start Ultra training for the Palm Bluff 50k in May while still running some local races (5Ks and halfs). After that I will take a short break then focus on gaining speed during the summer again since there are very few races during that time period and continuing that process into the fall running season. Happy 2019 everyone!
